VA SOS Data Entry

VA SOS data is uploaded and stored in an online data system – VASOSdata.org. Monitors can view and download this data to track their site over time, provide information to public officials, and educate their local communities about the health of their streams.

If this is your first time submitting data as a VA SOS monitor, you can find instructions for using the VA SOS system below, including a step-by-step data entry webinar. Please note: before you may enter data, you must create a user name and login

Data Entry Tutorial

This interactive tutorial provides a step-by-step demonstration of how to view and enter data in the VA SOS database. If you have questions, comments or need help with the data entry via the web, please contact the VA SOS office at: vasos@iwla.org.

Viewing and Downloading VA SOS Data

VASOSdata.org

View and download data directly from VASOSdata.org. You can filter data by watersheds, counties, streams, and specific sites as well as setting time frames to view data from. Please note that you may not see your data displayed in the database until it has been approved. This is because we take quality assurance and quality control measures seriously. Data are reviewed at two levels – by a regional coordinator and by the VA SOS office – before they are approved and made available to the public. Data approval typically happens after each spring and fall monitoring season.

Clean Water Hub

VA SOS Data is quality assured and uploaded semi-annually into the Clean Water Hub by staff. Monitors do not need to create sites or submit data to the Clean Water Hub. In the Hub you can see your data visualized over time and easily share your results with your community. If you are a group or organization with multiple sites, considering creating an Organization Profile. Organization profiles have all monitoring sites linked, and page managers can download site data anytime.

Request an Organization Profile and staff will create one for you!
