When
collecting macroinvertebrates, it is important to always collect information
about the habitat they are living in. This assessment can provide clues
as to why your macroinvertebrates sample scores the way it does. Without
the habitat assessment, it is more difficult to determine the type of
impairment occurring if one is found.
VA SOS has two habitat assessment forms.
We have been using the old form that has been filled out every time you conduct a monitoring event.
We will slowly phase this form out. The other form is to be
conducted on an annual basis.
